Josh.ai Certified Installer · Central Pennsylvania

Voice control that actually understands you.

Josh.ai is the professional smart home voice control platform built for whole-home automation — natural language, local processing, no monthly fees, and the only voice system seriously integrated with Lutron, Sonos, and the rest of the equipment a real smart home runs on. We are a Josh.ai certified installer based in Harrisburg, designing and programming Josh-controlled homes across Central Pennsylvania.

What Josh.ai Is

Not a consumer voice assistant. A professional smart home platform.

Alexa and Google Home are consumer products that added smart home features later. Josh.ai is a professional smart home platform that happens to use voice as the interface. The difference is in everything — how it understands you, where it processes your voice, and what it can actually control.

01

Natural language, not command syntax

"Hey Josh, make it cozy in here." "Hey Josh, I'm reading." "Hey Josh, time to wind down." Josh understands what you mean, not just specific phrases. Compare to "Alexa, set living room lights to 30 percent and turn on kitchen Sonos and play jazz" — the kind of stacked command consumer assistants actually require for the same outcome. Natural language is the difference between voice control you'll use every day and voice control you'll abandon after two weeks.

02

Local processing, private by design

Voice commands process on the Josh Core installed in your home — not in Amazon's or Google's data centers. Your voice data never leaves the property. Conversations are not sampled for ad targeting or model training. The system works without internet because the brain is in your house, not in someone else's cloud. Privacy is the default behavior, not a setting you have to find and enable.

03

Built for whole-home automation

Josh.ai integrates natively with Lutron lighting, Sonos audio, ELK alarm panels, UniFi Protect, smart locks, climate, shades, EV chargers, and the professional equipment a serious smart home runs on. No "skills" to install. No different commands for different systems. The home is one platform, controlled by one voice, behaving consistently in every room. That is what voice control looks like when it is designed for whole-home automation from day one.

Why N-Home A/V

A certified installer, not a reseller.

Josh.ai sells through a network of certified dealers and installers — not on Amazon, not at Best Buy, not direct to homeowners. There is a reason. The platform delivers a fundamentally different experience depending on how it is programmed and integrated, and Josh.ai's own model is that the install matters as much as the equipment. We agree.

Certified, trained, and supported

N-Home A/V is a Josh.ai certified installer. That means we have completed Josh.ai's formal training, we have direct access to their support and engineering teams when something edge-case comes up, and we install and program the system to their specifications rather than improvising from a YouTube video. It also means your equipment is properly registered for warranty, firmware updates, and the long-term support that keeps a system reliable for a decade.

The integrators Josh.ai is designed for

Josh.ai is the voice layer for a real smart home. It only works as well as the rest of the home it is integrated with. We install the systems Josh.ai is built to control — Lutron lighting, Sonos and Sonance audio, ELK security, UniFi networking, smart locks, climate, shades. The platform shines because the home underneath it actually behaves the way Josh expects. Most homeowners who try Josh.ai standalone, without the rest of the stack, never see what it is actually capable of.

Designed before installed

Voice control is not a product you buy; it is a system you design. We start with how you actually live in the home — when you wake up, what rooms you use, what frustrates you about the current setup — and design scenes around that. Microphone placement, command vocabulary, scene logic, and integration map all get documented before the first cable is pulled. The result is a home that responds to you specifically, not a generic install that responds to anyone.

Local, accountable, and reachable

We are based in Harrisburg. Most of our work is within a 45-minute drive. When something needs adjustment — a scene tweaked, a new integration added, a homeowner's voice training updated — we are a phone call away, not a 1-800 number. Most clients reach back out a few weeks after install wanting to tune the "Goodnight" scene. That is part of the work. Long-term support is built into how we operate.

The Hub

Josh.ai is the layer that ties the whole home together.

Lighting, audio, security, climate, locks, shades, EV charging, theater — Josh.ai integrates with the professional brands behind each layer and presents them as one home, one voice, one control surface. Here is what that actually looks like across the systems we install.

Lighting

Josh.ai + Lutron

Caseta, RadioRA 3, and HomeWorks systems integrated natively. Voice triggers the same scenes the wall keypads do — say "good morning" and the bedroom shades raise, the kitchen lighting warms, and the home starts the day. Voice and keypad coexist as complementary controls, not competing ones.

Audio

Josh.ai + Sonos & Sonance

"Hey Josh, play something chill in the kitchen." Native integration with Sonos for streaming control and Sonance architectural speakers for the audio hardware itself. Scenes route audio across zones automatically — dinner playlist starts in the kitchen, movie audio shifts to the theater, deck speakers join when the outdoor scene triggers.

Security

Josh.ai + ELK & UniFi Protect

Voice arm and disarm tied into the ELK M1 Gold alarm panel. Camera view commands pull up UniFi Protect feeds. Goodnight scene arms the alarm in stay mode, locks the doors, and starts overnight camera recording — all from a single voice command before sleep.

Automation

Josh.ai + Scene Programming

Good Morning, Goodnight, Movie Time, Welcome Home, Outdoor Entertaining — scenes designed around how you actually live, triggered by voice, keypad, geofence, or schedule. Josh.ai is the natural-language entry point into the scene framework that runs the rest of the home.

Networking

Josh.ai + UniFi Infrastructure

Josh.ai's reliability depends on the network underneath it. Hardwired UniFi access points, structured Cat6 cabling, PoE switching, and local management ensure Josh stays responsive even as the home fills with smart devices, streaming, and work-from-home traffic. The foundation everything else depends on.

Home Theater

Josh.ai + Theater Systems

"Hey Josh, movie time." Lights dim, shades close, projector powers on, screen drops, audio routes from the rest of the home into the theater receiver. Josh.ai handles the orchestration; the theater experience starts with a single voice command instead of three remotes and a checklist.

Outdoor

Josh.ai + Outdoor Systems

Outdoor scene activation by voice — landscape lighting, deck audio, motorized shades on the home, outdoor TV. The smart home extends past the back door because Josh.ai treats outdoor zones as first-class spaces, not afterthoughts. Voice access from indoor microphones reaches the outdoor systems without needing weatherproof microphones outside.

For Builders

Josh.ai + Pre-Wire

The cheapest, cleanest moment to plan Josh.ai is during construction. Josh Core in the rack, Josh Micro and Nano backboxes positioned during framing, Cat6 to every device location, integration with the Lutron and audio systems planned together. Pre-wire turns a $20,000 install into a $5,000 line item.

The Equipment

What a Josh.ai install actually includes.

Josh.ai is a small family of devices that work together. Sized to the home, placed where voice access actually needs to happen.

Josh Core

The processor. The brain that handles natural language, runs the integration logic, and executes scenes. One Core per home, installed in the network rack or equipment closet. Local processing, no cloud dependency.

Josh Micro

In-ceiling or in-wall voice control device for primary living spaces — kitchen, family room, primary suite. Premium microphone array, designed for hands-free voice access at normal speaking volume from across the room.

Josh Nano

Smaller in-wall voice device for bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices. Same natural-language capability as the Micro in a smaller form factor for rooms where you want voice without the full microphone array.

Native Integrations

Lutron lighting and shades, Sonos audio, ELK alarm, UniFi cameras, HomeKit, smart locks, climate systems, EV chargers, garage doors. Pre-built integrations maintained by Josh.ai directly, not third-party "skills."

Scene Programming

Good Morning, Goodnight, Movie Time, Welcome Home, custom scenes designed around your routines. Programmed during install and refined after move-in based on how you actually use the home.

Mobile App & Remote Access

Josh.ai's mobile app for control when you're not in the home, scene editing, and homeowner-level system management. Configured during install with all family members' phones and access permissions.

The Process

From walkthrough to handoff.

01

Walkthrough & Living Patterns

We start with how you actually live in the home, not what features Josh.ai offers. Wake-up routines, kitchen habits, where music matters, what frustrates you about the current setup. Voice control only delivers value when it removes friction from your day — not when it adds another way to do something you already do.

02

System Design

Microphone placement for actual voice access (where you'll be standing when you want to use Josh), Core location, integration map with the rest of the home, scene definitions, mobile app rollout plan. Documented before any equipment is ordered. You see the design and approve it before we move forward.

03

Equipment & Install

Josh Core installed in the rack, Micros and Nanos mounted at designed locations, network and power runs to each device, integration with Lutron, Sonos, security, climate, and the rest of the home configured. The infrastructure that determines whether the system runs reliably for the next decade.

04

Programming & Scenes

Scenes built around how you live — Good Morning, Goodnight, Movie Time, custom routines specific to your home. Voice training where helpful. Mobile app configured for every family member. Integration testing across every controlled system. Verified working before walkthrough.

05

Walkthrough & Handoff

We sit down with you and demonstrate the system in plain language — what to say, what happens, how to ask for new things. Most clients reach back out a few weeks later wanting to tune a scene or add a new command. That is part of the work. Long-term refinement is included.

FAQ

Common questions about Josh.ai.

Josh.ai is a professional-grade voice control platform designed from the start for whole-home automation — not a consumer voice assistant with smart home features bolted on. Three core differences from Alexa or Google: First, it processes voice commands locally on equipment installed in your home, so your voice data never leaves the property. Second, it understands natural language — "Hey Josh, make it cozy" works without memorizing precise command syntax. Third, it integrates natively with the professional brands a serious smart home actually uses (Lutron, Sonos, ELK, UniFi) rather than relying on cloud "skills" that break when companies change their APIs.
No. Josh.ai is a one-time hardware purchase — no platform subscription, no monthly fee, no per-feature unlock. You buy the equipment, we install it, and the system works for as long as the hardware does. The only recurring costs in a typical Josh.ai-controlled home are things you would already be paying for: streaming services like Apple Music or Spotify, your internet bill, and optional services you specifically choose (like 24/7 alarm monitoring).
Yes — for most commands. Josh.ai processes voice locally, so commands that control on-premise equipment (Lutron lighting, Sonos audio that has already cached, alarm system, locks, shades) continue working without internet. The only commands that genuinely require connectivity are ones that depend on cloud services — asking Josh to play a song you have not streamed before, or asking for a weather forecast. The home keeps responding to you even when the ISP does not.
Yes. N-Home A/V is a Josh.ai certified installer serving Central Pennsylvania. Certified status means we have completed Josh.ai's formal training program, we have direct access to their support and engineering teams, and we install and program the system to their specifications rather than improvising. It also means the system is properly registered for warranty and updates from day one.
Natively: Lutron (Caseta, RadioRA 3, HomeWorks lighting and shades), Sonos audio, ELK M1 Gold alarm panels, UniFi Protect cameras, Apple HomeKit, Nest and Ecobee thermostats, Schlage and August smart locks, Tesla wall connectors and other EV chargers, MyQ garage door openers, and most modern smart home equipment that exposes a real API. The integrations are pre-built and maintained by Josh.ai directly — not third-party "skills" that break with every update.
It depends on the scope. A focused install for one or two rooms (a Josh Nano in the primary suite and a Josh Micro in the kitchen, integrated with existing Lutron and Sonos) typically starts around $5,000–$8,000. Whole-home Josh.ai installations with a Josh Core processor and full integration across lighting, audio, security, and climate generally run $15,000–$30,000+ depending on the home size and the breadth of integration. We give a real number after a walkthrough — never before — because every home is different and quoting blind would be dishonest.
Josh Core is the central processor — the brain that handles natural language processing, integration logic, and scene execution. One Core per home, lives in the network rack or equipment closet. Josh Micro is the in-room voice control device, designed to be mounted in ceilings or walls for hands-free voice access in primary living spaces. Josh Nano is a smaller in-wall voice device for bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways — anywhere you want voice access without needing the full microphone array of a Micro. Most homes use one Core, two to four Micros, and several Nanos depending on layout.
You still want both. Lutron keypads on the wall are tactile, instant, and work without speaking — important for entryways, bedside, and the times when voice is not appropriate (sleeping kids, work calls, guests). Josh.ai handles the moments when voice is right — hands-full in the kitchen, lying in bed, walking through the door with groceries. The two control surfaces trigger the same scenes, so whichever you use, the outcome is identical. Best smart homes use voice and keypads as complements, not substitutes.
Yes. Josh.ai integrates with HomeKit so your existing iPhone, Apple Watch, and HomePod can control the same scenes Josh controls — useful for guests who do not know Josh's voice commands, or for moments when you would rather glance at your watch than speak. The two voice paths (Josh.ai and Siri) coexist; we configure both during install so the homeowner can use whichever feels right in the moment.
For an existing home with Lutron and Sonos already in place, a focused Josh.ai install usually takes one to two days on site — mounting the devices, running power and network, programming the integrations, and walking the homeowner through it. For new construction or larger whole-home automation projects where Josh.ai is being installed alongside lighting, audio, security, and networking from scratch, the Josh.ai portion is scheduled as part of the broader project timeline and typically runs alongside the other trades during the system integration phase.
